PAL Cargo Charts Bold Course for the Digital Age

As Philippine Airlines (PAL) celebrates its 85th year, it unveils a new chapter for PAL Cargo, the airline’s dedicated freight and logistics arm. Embracing the digital era, PAL Cargo continues its legacy of “Care that Delivers” by empowering local businesses, supporting e-commerce, and providing reliable cargo solutions across the Philippines and around the globe.

“In today’s digital-first economy, our revitalized strategy underscores PAL Cargo’s commitment to innovation, expanded reach, and tailored logistics solutions that help Filipino entrepreneurs thrive in both domestic and global markets,” said Jason Siy, PAL Vice President for Cargo.

Tailored Cargo Services for a Changing Market

PAL Cargo offers a comprehensive suite of freight services, catering to individual clients, freight forwarders, corporations, and large-scale businesses. From high-value goods and pharmaceuticals to perishables and e-commerce packages, PAL Cargo is equipped to handle a wide range of cargo types.

To ensure the safety and integrity of each shipment, PAL Cargo adheres to rigorous international handling standards. They follow the IATA guidelines for pet transport and they deploy security escorts for high-value items. These shipments are always the last to be loaded and the first to be offloaded. They also have dedicated security teams assigned for charter flights.

In partnership with logistics firm Airspeed and in collaboration with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), PAL Cargo is working to simplify the movement of small business products within the Philippines and beyond. A formal agreement with the DTI is expected in the coming months.

“Through strong partnerships and an expanding network, we’re enabling local entrepreneurs and exporters to access new markets,” Siy said. “Even in areas where we don’t currently operate, our global alliances allow us to extend our reach and connect Filipino businesses to the world.”

Going Digital for a Seamless Customer Experience

PAL Cargo is investing in digital transformation to improve the customer experience. Users can now conveniently book, pay for, and track domestic shipments online. Also, a mobile-friendly version of the platform is in the works. Plans are also underway to extend these services to international shipments.

Upcoming enhancements include a Port-to-Door delivery option which is an expansion of the existing airport-to-airport service. The other one is the integration of PAL’s Mabuhay Miles program, allowing customers to earn miles with each cargo transaction.

Two of PAL Cargo’s most in-demand offerings are:

  • Block Space Agreement – allowing clients to reserve space on PAL flights long-term, regardless of volume
  • Rush Cargo – a premium service guaranteeing same-flight loading for time-sensitive deliveries

A Nationwide Network of Cargo Hubs

To ensure seamless cargo movement across the archipelago, PAL Cargo operates from its main terminal at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in Manila, supported by regional hubs in Clark, Cebu, and Davao. These strategic locations enable efficient end-to-end logistics solutions across both domestic and international routes.

“Our nationwide network gives us the ability to deliver fast and flexible logistics solutions wherever our customers are,” Siy added.

Driving Growth in the Philippine Economy

According to the International Air Transport Association (IATA), global air cargo demand rose by 5.8% year-on-year in April 2025, driven by increased international activity, strong consumer demand, and lower fuel prices. With capacity at record levels and yields improving, industry conditions remain positive.

“This is a promising sign for the Philippine economy,” Siy noted. “It opens up more opportunities for local producers and exporters — especially MSMEs — to participate in global trade. Our goal is to give Filipino businesses the cargo solutions they need to compete and succeed worldwide.”
