P2.5B Abaca Resort Mactan by the Cebu Landmasters to Open in 2024
Cebu Landmasters, Inc. officially unveiled today, its very first resort development – the P2.5 billion Abaca Resort Mactan. The 17-story expanded luxury boutique hotel is a great addition to Cebu Landmasters’s already impressive hotel portfolio. In addition, the project will have The Abaca Group still manning its operations.
A special virtual event by the Cebu Landmasters team gathered partners, special guests, and members of the press. During this event, they expressed how excited they are about this development.
“We have always wanted to contribute towards making Cebu a thriving economic and tourism destination,” CLI chairman and CEO Jose Soberano III said. “Abaca Resort Mactan will put Cebu on the radar of this emerging breed of global travelers seeking world-class, authentic, and unique holiday experience.”
On the other hand, the Abaca Group’s Founder, Managing Partner, and Executive Chef Jason Hyatt said, “as one of the country’s preeminent developers, we are honored that CLI has chosen to partner with us once again through their hospitality arm. It is so inspiring to be added to their portfolio of established global brands like Accor, Radisson and Ascott.”
Abaca Resort Mactan
The Abaca Resort Mactan is unlike anything the Cebuanos have ever seen. In fact, this 125-room all-suite development will feature award-winning designs and plenty of well-planned private spaces. The project will also feature unrivaled panoramic ocean views, and more.
Some of the development’s most notable features include:
Sky Villas with floating infinity pools
Elevated cascading plunge pools
A 360-degree roofdeck bar
A private beach
A gym and aspa
A kids center
Function rooms for events
and a whole lot more!
Award-Winning Team
The CLI purchased the property back in 2019. When they did this, they also invited the Abaca Group to remain at the helm of hotel operations. For the resort’s design, CLI tapped internationally renowned architectural firm Büro Ole Scheeren. The firm’s projects had won numerous awards globally. Some of their notable work are CTBUH Urban Habitat Award 2020 Winner DUO in Singapore and the World Building of the Year 2015 The Interlace in Singapore. The team is also behind the MahaNakhon Tower in Bangkok, a high-rise development that changed the usual typology of the skyscraper. The Philippines’ leading architectural firm AIDEA had also expressed its support for the resort’s design.
The Abaca Group will take care of the hotel’s three culinary outlets. In addition, these outlets will offer new food and beverage concepts for the resort. As a matter of fact, among the exciting things to try at the resort will be a live-fire Asian concept on the main level. Also, the resort will follow a new normal, all-day dining format. Additionally, the resort will have excellent banquet facilities that can seat over 200 persons.
2024 and Beyond
After the resort opens in 2024, Cebu Landmasters plans to expand its hotel portfolio to 1,433 rooms by 2025. This is in line with CLI’s strategy to build up its recurring business contributing 10% to the company’s topline.
“We see tourism in the Visayas and Mindanao driving the economy once global mobility is restored,” Soberano said. With direct flight connections all over the world, Cebu will be the natural gateway to the Philippines for many travelers. We will be ready for that boom,” he confidently said.
