40-Meter CCLEX Crosses Illuminated as Part of Quincentennial Celebrations
On April 15, 2021, the eight 40-meter CCLEX crosses at the top of the two main towers of the Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway were finally switched on. Heading the blessing before the lighting event was Cebu Archbishop Jose Palma. Like many events this month, today’s event is part of the 2021 quincentennial celebrations in Cebu.
Blessing and Ceremonial Lighting
Present during the blessing and the ceremonial lighting of the 8 crosses were the heads of Cebu City, Lapu-Lapu City, and Cordova. Also present were the men and women from the CCLEC and Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation. The teams from both the Metro Pacific Investments Corporation and the Il Corso Filinvest Lifemalls were also present.

During the event, Cebu City Mayor Edgardo Labella and Vice Mayor Mike Rama talked about the exciting project. They said that the third bridge was just once a dream. And in less than a year, that dream will become a reality. CCLEX President Allan Alfon, on the other hand, praised all the people he worked with, including the mayors, for their help and support.
Cordova Mayor Mary Therese Cho shared how lucky Cordova is to be part of this project. Archbishop Jose Palma, for his part, asked everyone to remain calm despite the rain. He said that although the weather was bad, the event will indeed push through.

After the program, the guests then boarded a ship. The ship moved through the Mactan Channel and stopped just below the two main towers.
40-Meter CCLEX Crosses
The main towers of the Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway feature 8 iconic 40-meter LED crosses. Each tower will have 4 crosses. In fact, the crosses can be seen from all directions, especially at night. They stand for Cebu being the seat of Christianity in the country. Additionally, the crosses are very similar to the famous Magellan’s Cross.

Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway
The Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway is an 8.5-KM toll expressway project that is nearing completion. The Php30-B project will connect Cebu City and the Municipality of Cordova. It is seen to bring progress and positive change to the small town. It will be completed before 2021 ends.

CCLEX is a project of the Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway Corporation (CCLEC). CCLEC is a subsidiary of Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation under MPIC or Metro Pacific Investments Corporations.
