Megaworld’s ‘Beach Mall’ is Rising Soon at Mactan Newtown

Megaworld Corporation continues to wow people are they unveiled yet another exciting project today – a lifestyle mall right at the beach! If you’re a fan of shopping, the beach, and everything in between, you’re in for a real treat as the property giant embarks on another ground-breaking development that is set to change not only Mactan Island but also the whole province of Cebu.






During a press conference held at the posh Marco Polo Hotel last September 19, 2019, Megaworld’s Chief Strategic Officer Kevin L. Tan officially announced the exciting new project. Called the Mactan Newtown Beach Walk, the ‘beach mall’ will be built along the beach cliff of the 30-hectare Mactan Newtown township property. Here are a few more exciting details you need to know about this amazing lifestyle project:

A Php1.5-Billion Project

Megaworld is expected to spend Php1.5-billion to build the project. Rising right next to the famous Shangri-la’s Mactan Resort and Spa, the project will have a floor area of around 30,000 square meters. Work on the Mactan Newtown Beach Walk is expected to start at the end of 2019. With ASEC Development & Construction Corporation being the project’s official contractor, the development is expected to be completed two years later in 2021.

Man-Made Lagoon

One of the highlights of the development is the 1.4-hectare man-made lagoon at the very center. The lagoon will have a floating boardwalk as well as a bridge that will connect both sides of the mall. With a maximum depth of 1.5 meters, the lagoon is perfect for various watersports events like jet skiing, stand-up paddling, wakeboarding, and boating. The lagoon will also have a man-made white-sand shoreline.

Megaworld Lifestyle Malls Brand

The Mactan Newtown Beach Walk will be designed and operated under the Megaworld Lifestyle Malls brand. The brand is expected to bring a fresh, new concept of mall development in Cebu. In fact, taking inspiration from iconic coastline commercial developments in South California, the project will allow visitors to have leisurely strolls along the beach, dine at their favorite restaurants, watch a blockbuster film, or just enjoy the laid-back beach atmosphere all in one place.

Amazing Lifestyle Amenities

One of the most exciting components of the project is the chapel on a cliff. The structure will be surrounded by a garden and will offer visitors an amazing view of the ocean. The mall will also have four cinemas, a Food Hall, outdoor dining options, a traveler’s lounge, and a viewing deck.

Boutique Hotel

The Mactan Newtown Beach Walk will also house a three-story boutique hotel. Operated by the Megaworld Hotels brand, the development will have a row of retail shops on the ground level and about 48 spacious guestrooms on top.

Commitment to Sustainability

With a strong commitment to sustainability, the new mall will make use of solar roof panels and will have an open layout scheme for passive and natural cooling and lighting. Almost half of the entire project will also be set aside for green and open spaces where various outdoor activities like biking, airsoft shooting, tree-top training can be done.
