UNIQLO Marks a Decade of Community and LifeWear in Cebu

After UNIQLO marked its 10th year in Cebu, the milestone still stands out not just as a retail anniversary but as a reminder of how deeply the brand has embedded itself in the local community.

Uniqlo in Cebu

UNIQLO’s Cebu journey began a decade ago at SM City Cebu with a modest team of eight employees. Today, that single store has grown into a network of five branches across Metro Cebu, reflecting steady expansion fueled by consistent local support. Over the years, the brand’s presence has gone beyond selling clothing, becoming part of the city’s everyday rhythm and, at crucial moments, its collective response to adversity.

One with Cebu

One of the clearest examples of this was UNIQLO’s calamity response following Typhoon Tino. The company extended assistance to affected families by distributing ₱3 million worth of essential goods, along with thousands of AIRism shirts, reinforcing its commitment to practical support during times of need.

10 Years of Uniqlo in Cebu

That same spirit of thoughtfulness defined UNIQLO Cebu’s 10th anniversary celebration earlier this year. Rather than a grand spectacle, the brand opted for something more grounded and community-focused. From January 16 to 22, shoppers were treated to Cebu-exclusive offers on everyday essentials, including Dry Color Crew Neck T-shirts priced at ₱290, Ultra Stretch Pants starting at ₱1,490, and Linen Blend Easy Pants for ₱790, alongside other LifeWear staples at special prices.

Cebu UTme! Collection

Adding a distinctly local layer to the celebration was the launch of the Exclusive Cebu UTme! Collection. Available only at UNIQLO Cebu stores, the collection featured designs inspired by Cebu’s culture and community, highlighting the city not just as a market but as a source of creative identity.

Special Treats

Those who visited during the opening weekend of the celebration from January 16 to 18 were also rewarded with small but thoughtful perks. These included a free UNIQLO luggage tag for single-receipt purchases worth ₱3,000 when scanning the UNIQLO app at checkout, complimentary croissants from Abaca Baking Company for the first 100 customers, and raffle opportunities for special treats from Abaca, Maya, and The Reef Island Resort.

Looking back, UNIQLO’s 10 years in Cebu feel less like a single milestone and more like a shared journey shaped by everyday wear, local collaboration, and consistent presence during both ordinary days and difficult times. For many Cebuanos, LifeWear has become just that, part of daily life, woven quietly into the fabric of the city.
