SM MOA Arena: A True Home for Inclusion

For nearly a decade, the SM MOA (Mall of Asia) Arena has stood as more than just a world-class venue for concerts, sports, and large-scale events—it has become a space of belonging, acceptance, and empowerment for thousands of individuals on the autism spectrum.

Since 2014, the Autism Society Philippines (ASP) Angels Walk for Autism has found both its symbolic and physical home at the SM MOA Arena. Co-presented with SM Cares, this annual gathering brings together families, advocates, and communities in a shared call for a more inclusive future—one where individuals on the autism spectrum are fully accepted, accommodated, and appreciated.

A Model Venue for Accessibility and Inclusion

Renowned as one of the country’s premier indoor arenas, SM MOA Arena has earned recognition for its inclusive design, accessibility features, and PWD-friendly environment, including:

  • Wheelchair-accessible entrances, seating, and restrooms
  • Elevators and ramps to support ease of movement
  • Trained personnel to assist guests with disabilities
  • Sensory-sensitive signage and zones for the neurodiverse

These features have enhanced the event experience for man. Additionally, they have set a national benchmark for accessibility in public venues.

In 2013, the arena was honored with the Gold Award from the Apolinario Mabini Awards Committee as a Disabled-Friendly Establishment of the Year. This affirms its commitment to serving persons with disabilities with dignity and respect.

Accessibility in Action

From the PWD Section at the Lower Box—designed for comfort and optimal viewing—to dedicated PWD ramps and other thoughtful facilities, SM MOA Arena ensures that all guests, regardless of ability, can fully enjoy every moment.

The Philippine Foundation for the Rehabilitation of the Disabled (PFRD) has also officially recognized SM MOA Arena as a PWD-friendly venue. This underscores its role as a leader in creating spaces that are both inclusive and empowering.

More Than Infrastructure: A Space That Uplifts

But SM MOA Arena’s commitment to inclusivity goes beyond physical features. It has become a meaningful and symbolic home for communities who often struggle to find spaces where they are seen, heard, and supported.

“Spaces like the SM Mall of Asia Arena remind us that inclusivity isn’t just a design principle—it’s a promise we make to every member of our community,” said Mr. Arnel C. Gonzales, SM MOA Arena Senior Assistant Vice President and General Manager. “By opening our doors to the Angels Walk year after year, we proudly stand with the autism community in every step toward awareness, acceptance, and action.”

Continuing a Legacy of Inclusion

In 2025, SM MOA Arena once again hosted the ASP Angels Walk for Autism. This is a powerful tradition of community celebration, awareness, and advocacy.

As families and individuals on the spectrum step through its doors, they enter not just an arena—but a space of support and celebration, where inclusion is not an afterthought but a defining value.

Through its ongoing partnership with the Autism Society Philippines, SM MOA Arena embodies a shared vision of a society that doesn’t just include—but uplifts—every individual.

A Platform for Purpose

With each milestone event it hosts, the SM MOA Arena reaffirms that great venues don’t just entertain—they inspire. By merging compassion, accessibility, and purpose, it proves that the best public spaces are those that welcome everyone, celebrate differences, and stand as true homes for inclusion.
