If Cebuanos come to you and stay after a truly moving opening statement, then you can heave a sigh of relief. Thank the heavens and rejoice for you are liked. Getting their approval, however, is no easy feat. If you’re great, you will get applauded and lauded. But if you aren’t, they can be pretty vocal and “loud” in expressing their dissatisfaction and disapproval. Like an uncomfortably quiet concert hall after a particularly bad song number, for example.

In Cebu, one of the few food places that keep getting all the social media buzz these days is the First Time Chef Kitchen & Bar. Located in Maroo Arcade in Mandaue City, First Time Chef is a small, cozy restaurant that serves awesome batchoy, great-tasting chicken wings, amazing crazy shakes, and a whole lot more. Occupying a relatively small space in the complex, the restaurant only has around a dozen tables and can accommodate only around a few dozen hungry customers. Despite the tiny space, however, customers come in droves every day to give the restaurant’s best-sellers a try.
If you’re wondering how busy the place can get, let me just say that the place can get pretty stuffed even before the clock hits 12 noon.
