In 1979, a family from the province of Laguna moved to Cebu and opened a small carenderia. Twelve years later, this small carenderia became a 10-table air-conditioned restaurant. This restaurant sold pancit palabok, puto bumbong, fresh lumpia, and other Filipino favorites. In 1994, the family took another step forward and opened their very first restaurant inside a mall. A move, which many believed, was ill-advised.

Twenty-five years later, in 2016, the same restaurant brand now has 7 branches in the Visayas and Mindanao, has garnered respect and recognition both here and abroad, and has become a culinary landmark in Cebu.

Today, September 28, 2016, Cafe Laguna, one of the best restaurants in Cebu, is celebrating its 25th year in the business. Just for a day, Cafe Laguna is offering a grand Filipino buffet in all of its branches in Cebu (Cafe Laguna Ayala, Laguna Garden Cafe, Cafe Laguna SM City Cebu, and Cafe Laguna SM Seaside) for only 499++.

The movers and shakers of the Laguna Group headed by the Cafe Laguna founder and chairman ‘Kitchen Queen’ Julita Urbina during the special conference with members of the media.

During the conference, the Laguna Group honored 7 employees who have served and stayed with the company for more than 20 years.

Soup Kitchen of the Visayas – a Cebu-based non-profit organization working togeher with other carities to provide immediate medical support in relief operations.

Down Syndrome Association of the Philippines, Inc. (DSAPI) – a non-stock, non-profit organization which aims to support families who have a child with Down Syndrome.

Cebu Caritas – an organization which provides support to communicate and persons in need.
