Griffins Malazarte Opens Second GMO Collections Boutique in Cebu

The second branch of GMO Collections by Griffins Malazarte officially opened on October 17, 2021. Located at El Dorado Street in Barangay Banilad, the new branch is a few times bigger than the first shop located in Acacia Street in Barangay Kamputhaw, Cebu City. The new location boasts spacious changing rooms, provisions for private fittings, and an even bigger selection of wedding gowns, suits, and event outfits. It also has its own dedicated parking spot for guests and clients.

Griffins Malazarte

Cebu-based wedding and fashion couture provider Griffins Malazarte grew up in the mountain barangay of Taptap in Cebu City. From the get-go, he has shown great interest and talent in fashion, styling, and hair and make-up.

Despite limited means, Griffins proved that with willpower, everything is indeed possible. From his savings from various gigs, he was able to save up for a sewing machine that cost around P4,000. From there, he started creating his own designs and slowly carving a name for himself in the local fashion scene.

GMO Collections

In 2014, with the support of his family and friends, Griffins finally opened GMO (Griffins Malazarte Originals) Collections in Barangay Kamputhaw. Despite the uncertainties, Griffins continued to work hard to earn the trust and confidence of clients and customers. And in no time, GMO Collections became synonymous with quality and dependable fashion source in Cebu.

A New Shop Opens

The opening of the second boutique, which also doubled as Griffins’s 30th birthday celebration, is proof that with patience, hard work, and perseverance, dreams are definitely within reach.

“It’s the next step for my business that I have always wanted to do ever since but it took time, courage, and resources to make it possible. What we are experiencing these days, especially us in the fashion industry, is not for the faint of heart. But I believe that it is during these times that we need to be braver and bolder. We cannot let a pandemic dampen our creative spirit,” said Malazarte.

Gracing the grand opening, together with Griffins’s family, friends, and relatives, were former Cong. Rachel “Cutie” Del Mar; Worldclass Kababayan TV Host, OFW Partylist First Nominee, and founding chairperson of Anti-trafficking OFW Movement Marissa Del Mar; Cebu City Councilor Lea Ouano Japson; and Dorothy Joy Fanio of DJF Prime Realty Inc. Also present were Cebu wedding coordinators, suppliers, clients, and partners.
