SM Seaside City Cebu Opens First Laser Projection Cinema in South East Asia

SM Seaside City Cebu officially opened today its two new premium cinemas – SM Center Stage and SM Large Screen Format Cinema. Using the latest and most advanced technology in cinema, SM’s new cinemas are expected to give the Cebuano movie goer a more immersive cinema experience.

TheCebuano was present during the ribbon-cutting ceremony, and ocular tour, and the very first screening of the large screen format cinema.

Here are 8 things you need to know about SM’s two newest cinemas:

1. First in South East Asia

SM’s Large Screen Format Cinema will be the very first cinema in South East Asia to use the laser projection system. The Christie 6P laser projection system generates bright images and reproduces the colors of the actual movie set.

2. Cinema and Stage Theatre in One

SM’s CenterStage is a movie theater which will double as a stage theater. It is a great venue for plays, concerts, private programs, live events, movie premieres, and a whole lot more.

3. Breathing Space

SM’s Large Screen Format Cinema has wide walkways in between rows. Also, each movie goer has a comfortable breathing space to ensure an uninterrupted movie-watching experience.

4. Dolby Atmos Sound System

SM’s Large Screen Format Cinema uses Dolby Atmos Sound System and Christie Vive Speakers to match the crisp screen display.

5. Comfortable Setting

You don’t have to worry about a tall guy’s head blocking your view. SM’s Large Screen Cinema has stadium-like setting which allows each movie-goer to get a full, unobstructed view of the screen.

The new cinemas will have a total of 1181 seats. The Large Screen Format Cinema can accommodate 351 guests. CenterStage on the other hand can seat 830 guests.

SM’s Large Screen Format Cinema has an extra-large screen. The screen size is almost 30% larger than the size of the regular cinema.

8. Star Wars: The Force Awakens

The Large Screen Format Cinema will be carrying the new StarWars movie from its opening date (December 17) and all throughout the MMFF run period. CenterStage will also screen the movie on its first week.
